Amara Gel: Philip’s lightest gel full face mask to date

The Amara Gel is the latest gel mask from Philips Respironics, who are experts in this area of mask design. With the Advanced gel technology that Philips Respironics have utilised in earlier mask designs, a strong yet comfortable seal is formed which adapts to the contours of the face to prevent leakage and deliver the positive pressure.

The Amara Gel is Philips’ smallest and lightest full face gel design to date. Reducing the weight of CPAP masks allows people to adapt to the therapy quicker while also feeling less intrusive.

Getting the correct size of mask is essential in ensuring your nights of CPAP are fully effective in treating your OSA and with the Amara Gel coming in four sizes designed to fit over 95% of patients’ faces, the vast majority will find the perfect fit for them.

With a ‘one-click’ cushion attachment and streamlined design, the Amara Gel is easy to assemble after routine cleaning and maintenance.

The forehead support on the Amara Gel features a fine-glide button which can be adjusted to 10 positions to optimise the fit of the mask.

As with some of Philips previous masks, the micro exhalation ports are designed to quietly diffuse the air away from the user and bed partners to ensure a refreshing night’s sleep with no disruptions.

The frame of the Amara Gel fits with all sizes and types of Amara cushions, including those of the earlier Amara Silicone. To replace simply align the port on the cushion’s front with the elbow on the inside of the frame and click in. Headgear and frames from the earlier model are also interchangeable.

Please note: The Amara Gel Petite and Small size come with Reduced Size or RS headgear. Medium and large come packed with original size headgear.

If you are considering trying this mask for the first time, you can order in confidence using Mask Fit Insurance.

Mask Fit Insurance costs £14.99 for nasal masks and £19.99 for full face masks, and allows you to return this mask for a refund if unsuitable.

You have 28 days from the dispatch date to assess the mask and notify us that you are unhappy with it for any reason. You can return it and have it refunded (we must receive it back within 7 days of being notified).

The fee for the insurance is non-refundable once the mask is opened, nor are any outgoing postage costs. The mask itself will be refunded in full.

A pre-paid returns label will be included for customers in the UK. We strongly recommend getting a proof of postage (which is free) as returns not received cannot be refunded. For overseas customers, the return postage will need to be arranged by the customer and this cannot be reimbursed.

CPAP masks purchased without insurance cannot be returned/refunded once opened for hygiene reasons, as explained in our returns policy.

Mask Fit Insurance must be ordered at the same time as the mask in question, and cannot be added retroactively.

Intus Healthcare reserve the right not to honour any orders containing multiple masks purchased with Insurance; please instead choose which mask you feel is most suitable and select the size required as per the sizing gauge (if applicable). Should you subsequently determine a different mask or size is required, you can of course return the first and order the other.

Is the Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask compatible with my CPAP machine?

Yes – the Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask will be compatible with all standard CPAP tubing/hoses and machines.

Is it easy to clean and maintain the Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask?

The Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask was designed to make your life easier. The Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask is made up of three parts – the frame, the forehead cushion and the main cushion. There are no fiddly bits. Philips Respironics recommend cleaning the Amara Full Face CPAP mask, before use, and daily thereafter. The Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask should be washed in warm water, with a small amount of mild detergent – and then rinsed thoroughly. Once cleaned, the mask components should be left to dry naturally.

Will I be able to replace the individual components for the Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask?

Yes of course. In order to ensure the longest possible life span for your Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask – you are able to purchase replacement seal/cushions for this CPAP mask. Details for the various sizes can be found of their individual product page.

The difference between the Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask and the Amara Full Face CPAP mask is that the Amara Gel Full Face CPAP mask, has a gel seal/cushion; whilst the Amara Full Face CPAP mask has a silicone seal/cushion. If you purchase one mask, you can replace the CPAP seal/cushion and interchange between the two materials.
