Our Sleep Test Experts
Here are profiles of some of the experts who report on our sleep tests and contribute to the extensive information and support provided on this site and in our results letters.
Dr Swapna Mandal BSc, MBBS, FRCP (UK) PhD
Dr Mandal is the Lead Consultant Physician in Sleep and Ventilation at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest NHS sleep services in the capital. She is also the clinical lead for lung function services across the trust and has introduced innovative diagnostic pathways. She continues her pursuit of academic interests in sleep and ventilation medicine and is supervising several PhD students as well as actively improving patient care through quality improvement projects. She has spent over four years pursuing research in this field at a renowned sleep and ventilation centre, particularly in individuals with obesity and sleep-disordered breathing.
Dr Mandal has been providing her professional reports for Intus Healthcare’s In-Home Sleep Test Service since 2017. As well as providing accurate, qualified reports, her experience in leading an NHS sleep centre allows her to help us ensure that every aspect of the service we provide is at the highest possible standard.
The WatchPat device used for our in-home service is also used by Dr Mandal’s Royal Free London sleep clinic.
Jill Meeres
Jill is the Principal Sleep Technologist and Service Manager of the East Sussex sleep disorder service at Conquest Hospital.
The Sleep Unit performs, on average, approximately 900 Sleep Studies per year, 250 Paediatric overnight Oximetry studies and supplies around 600 CPAP treatments.
Jill’s extensive experience means she has reported on thousands of NHS sleep tests in her career.
She now lends her expertise to Intus’s In-Home Sleep Test service, providing accurate and informative analyses. The WatchPat device used for our service is also used in Jill’s NHS sleep service.
Carly Gregory
Carly is an experienced Sleep Physiologist. She has worked at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in East Grinstead since 2016.
Her previous roles include being a Senior Sleep Physiologist at London’s Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, and for two years ran the Sleep Apnoea Clinic and Lung Function Laboratory within Worthing District Hospital. She has over a decade of experience in NHS sleep clinics, scoring thousands of sleep tests in her career.
Carly has provided her independent professional assessment of our In-Home Sleep Tests for over five years, providing over 500 reports for our patients.
Jay Gadher
Jay is an experienced Respiratory & Sleep Clinical Scientist. His previous experience includes working at Royal Devon, and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, where he completed his BSc in Healthcare Science has allowed him to gain expertise in scoring home and laboratory sleep studies.
Jay has more recently worked at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham where he completed his MSc in Clinical Science, specializing in Respiratory and Sleep Science. Hampshire Hospitals currently employs him as a Senior Respiratory Physiologist.
Jay has recently been recruited to Intus Healthcare to provide a professional assessment of our In-Home Sleep Tests.
Jenny Hall
She has worked at Baywater since 2005 when it was then called Air Products, and her roles have included being a Senior Nurse Adviser and then fives years as the Service Lead for Baywater’s Home Oxygen Service in Wales, East Midlands ad North London.
Jenny has a background in nursing, having graduated as a Registered General Nurse in 1995 and subsequently achieved an MSc in Health Studies in 2002. She now uses her experience to lead Baywater’s clinical team and ensure that their service provides the highest level of patient care possible.
For Intus, Jenny’s feedback helps to improve our service, particularly from a patient perspective, focusing on ensuring it is accessible, accurate and informative. She also makes a significant contribution to the expert information and advice that we provide on this website, particularly through our blog.
Helen Clarkson
Helen Clarkson has been Baywater Healthcare’s Sleep Specialist since 2008. Before joining Baywater, Helen spent eight years in NHS respiratory clinics, including three years at Pontefract General Hospital as a Respiratory Physiologist. Her clinical background ensures that the clinical quality is at the centre of Baywater’s services. Since Baywater acquired Intus in 2018, she has helped us improve our service from a clinical perspective so that we too provide the level of care synonymous with Baywater. Like Jenny, Helen provides a wealth of informative blog entries to help raise awareness of Sleep Apnoea and guide those who suspect they may have the condition.
